Informacion i Detajuar për Racën

Health

Treeing Tennessee Brindle dogs live 10 to 12 years and are a generally hardy hunting breed. Hip dysplasia and ear infections are the main concerns given their active build and floppy ears. Being a working breed bred for function, widespread hereditary diseases are not common. Annual vet visits and a lean body weight keep most individuals healthy.

Grooming

Your Treeing Tennessee Brindle has a short, smooth brindle coat that needs only a weekly brush. Their floppy ears need weekly checks and cleaning to prevent infection. Bathe monthly or when needed. Trim nails every three to four weeks and brush teeth regularly. Grooming takes minimal time with this breed.

Exercise

Your Treeing Tennessee Brindle needs at least 60 minutes of vigorous exercise daily. Running, scent work, and field activities match their hunting drive perfectly. They follow their nose with total commitment so keep them leashed in open areas. Secure fencing matters. Without enough outlet they become vocal and restless.

Training

Treeing Tennessee Brindles are intelligent and eager but their nose drives everything once they catch a scent. Use positive reinforcement and high value food rewards. Start early with basic commands and leash manners. Tracking and treeing activities give this breed a constructive outlet for their natural ability.

Nutrition

Feed a quality medium breed formula twice daily with measured portions. Hunting dogs in the field need more calories than lightly active pets. Adjust portions based on actual workload and body condition. Two meals per day works better than one. Fresh water should always be available.

History

The Treeing Tennessee Brindle developed in the Appalachian Mountains of the United States, bred by hunters who wanted a compact, brindle coated cur dog with an outstanding nose and a loud, ringing bark when it treed game. Hunters selectively bred the best performers from local mountain cur stock over generations. The Treeing Tennessee Brindle Association was founded in 1967 to preserve the breed. The AKC admitted the breed to its Foundation Stock Service in 1995.
