This relatively young breed originated in Germany in 1984, when breeders Werner and Gertrud Biewer noticed a unique tri-colored puppy in a litter of Yorkshire Terriers. They developed the distinctive coloring into a stable line. Named after the founding family, the breed gained AKC recognition in 2021 and continues growing in popularity.
