Developed in England in the 1700s, the Clumber Spaniel takes its name from Clumber Park, the estate where the breed was refined. Bred for slow, methodical hunting in dense underbrush, their build suited thorough, careful work rather than speed. The breed was historically favored by British royalty, including King Edward VII. Today it remains a calm, gentle hunting companion.
