Informazioni Dettagliate sulla Razza

Health

Eurasiers typically live 11 to 13 years and are a generally healthy breed. Hip dysplasia and certain eye conditions occur occasionally. Being a relatively rare, carefully developed breed helps keep the gene pool fairly stable. Routine vet visits keep this companion breed thriving.

Grooming

That thick double coat needs brushing two to three times a week to manage shedding. Shedding increases heavily during seasonal coat blows, requiring daily brushing then. Bathe only when needed, as their coat naturally resists dirt. Nail trims and ear checks round out a simple routine.

Exercise

Eurasiers have moderate energy and need about 45 minutes of activity daily. Walks and moderate play sessions suit their calm, dignified nature well. They're not high-energy dogs but do appreciate consistent daily movement. Mental stimulation through training keeps them genuinely engaged.

Training

Intelligent and eager to please, Eurasiers generally train well with patient, positive methods. Early socialization rounds out their naturally calm, loyal temperament. They form deep bonds with their family and can be reserved with strangers. This breed thrives with a consistent, gentle handler.

Nutrition

A medium-breed formula with quality protein suits their moderate activity level well. Two measured meals daily work well for this breed. Watch their weight, as they can gain if under-exercised. Fresh water should always be available.

History

Developed in Germany in the 1960s, the Eurasier was created by breeder Julius Wipfel by combining the Chow Chow, Wolfspitz, and Samoyed. His goal was a calm, loyal companion breed that retained the dignity of its Spitz-type ancestors. The breed remains relatively rare and carefully managed by dedicated breed clubs. It's cherished for its gentle, devoted temperament.
