Your Taiwan Dog needs 60 minutes of vigorous exercise daily. Running, hiking, and active play in a securely fenced area match their athletic, agile nature. Their prey drive is strong so never let them off leash in open areas. They have excellent stamina and a natural love of movement.

Taiwan Dogs are intelligent but independent. They respond best to positive reinforcement from a patient, consistent handler. Socialize extensively from puppyhood since they can be reserved and wary with strangers. Early training builds a confident, manageable dog. Their hunting instincts need consistent management throughout life.

Feed a quality medium breed formula twice daily with measured portions. Taiwan Dogs stay naturally lean when properly exercised. Monitor body condition monthly. Keep treats minimal. Two meals per day works better than free feeding.

The Taiwan Dog, also called the Formosan Mountain Dog, is a primitive breed that has lived on the island of Taiwan for thousands of years.
