Informations Détaillées sur la Race

Health

The Russian Tsvetnaya Bolonka lives 12 to 16 years. Dental crowding and patellar luxation are the main health concerns given their small size. Progressive retinal atrophy occurs in some lines. Source your puppy from a responsible breeder and keep annual vet visits consistent. This breed is generally hardy for its size when cared for properly.

Grooming

Your Bolonka has a long, curly coat that needs brushing every two to three days to prevent mats. Pay extra attention behind the ears and under the legs where tangles form fast. Bathe every three to four weeks. Clean ears weekly, brush teeth several times a week, and trim nails every three weeks.

Exercise

Your Bolonka needs 20 to 30 minutes of activity daily. Short walks and indoor play sessions satisfy their moderate energy well. They adapt easily to apartment life. Mental stimulation through games and trick training matters just as much as physical movement for this clever little dog.

Training

Bolonkas are bright and learn quickly with positive reinforcement. They respond well to treats and praise. Keep training sessions short and fun. Socialize your puppy early with different people and environments to build confidence. Housetraining takes patience and consistency given their small size.

Nutrition

Feed a quality small breed formula twice daily with carefully measured portions. Bolonkas gain weight easily so keep treats minimal and skip table scraps entirely. Two meals per day works far better than free feeding. Always provide fresh water.

History

The Russian Tsvetnaya Bolonka developed in the Soviet Union as a small companion dog suited to apartment life in crowded Russian cities. Breeders used Bichon type dogs, French Bolognese, and various small breeds to create this colorful, curly coated companion. The name means colored lap dog in Russian. The breed remained largely unknown outside Russia until after the Soviet era. Today it is gaining attention internationally as a low shedding, affectionate companion.
