Cookie Policy

Effective date: 22 August 2026

1. INTRODUCTION

1.1 This Cookie Policy explains how Wow Pets Palace uses cookies and similar technologies on https://wowpetspalace.com and in our mobile applications.

1.2 Read it with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data generally.

1.3 Last updated: 22 August 2026.

1.4 The short version. We use a small number of cookies that are necessary to make the site work - these are always on, because without them nothing functions. Everything else, including analytics and advertising, is off until you agree. You can change your mind at any time, and it takes one click.

2. WHAT COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES ARE

2.1 Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They let the site recognise your device, remember your choices, and understand how the site is used.

2.2 We also use technologies that work similarly, and this policy covers all of them:

TechnologyWhat it does
CookiesSmall files stored by your browser
Local and session storageData stored in your browser, often larger and longer-lived than cookies
Pixels and web beaconsTiny invisible images that report that a page or email was opened
SDKsCode inside our mobile apps that performs similar functions
Device identifiersIdentifiers your phone provides to apps, such as advertising IDs
Server-side trackingTracking performed on our servers rather than in your browser

2.3 First-party technologies are set by us. Third-party technologies are set by another company whose service we use. Third-party technologies can, depending on the provider, allow that company to build a picture of your activity across different websites.

2.4 Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies stay until they expire or you delete them.

3. HOW WE CATEGORISE THEM

We group everything into four categories. Only the first is used without your agreement.

CategoryWhat it is forConsent needed in EU/EEA?Default
Strictly necessaryMaking the Platform work - logging in, security, remembering your cookie choices, load balancing, fraud preventionNoAlways on
AnalyticsUnderstanding how people use the Platform so we can improve itYesOff
PersonalisationRemembering your preferences and tailoring what you seeYesOff
AdvertisingShowing you relevant ads and measuring whether they workYesOff

3.1 We do not treat analytics as "strictly necessary." Some websites do. It is not a defensible position under EU law: a cookie is strictly necessary only where the service you asked for cannot be provided without it, and a website works perfectly well without analytics.

3.2 We do not rely on legitimate interests to set non-essential cookies. The consent requirement for storing or accessing information on your device comes from ePrivacy law, and legitimate interests is not an available basis for it.

4. STRICTLY NECESSARY

4.1 These are used without consent because the Platform cannot work without them. Blocking them will break the site.

4.2 The cookie that records your consent choices is itself strictly necessary - without it we would have to ask you every time you loaded a page.

5. ANALYTICS

5.1 These help us understand which pages are visited, which features are used, where people encounter problems, and how well the Platform performs. They are off until you agree.

ServiceProviderPurposeRetentionConsentStatus
Google Analytics 4GoogleUsage measurement and reportingNot currently in useRequiredLive
Google Tag ManagerGoogleDelivering and managing tagsNot currently in useDepends on the tags it deliversNot currently in use
Microsoft ClarityMicrosoftSession recording, heatmaps, click and scroll behaviourNot currently in useRequiredNot currently in use

5.2 A note on session recording. Microsoft Clarity, if used, records how you move through pages - clicks, scrolling, mouse movement. It is a more intrusive form of analytics than page counting. Where used, we configure it to mask input fields so that what you type is not captured.

5.3 Google and Microsoft process data from these services for their own purposes as well as ours. Their privacy policies apply to that processing.

6. PERSONALISATION

6.1 These remember your preferences and tailor what you see. Off until you agree.

6.2 Declining personalisation does not stop you using any feature. It means the Platform will not remember these preferences between visits.

7. ADVERTISING

7.1 These are used to show you relevant advertising and measure whether it works. Off until you agree.

7.2 Two commitments about advertising

7.2.1 We do not connect GPS or precise location data to any advertising technology. Your pet's location, and your location, are never shared with an advertising platform, in any jurisdiction. This is built into our architecture, not just written here.

7.2.2 We do not show personalised or behavioural advertising to anyone under 18. Minor accounts are excluded from all advertising technologies.

7.3 Where advertising technologies are enabled, the provider may combine information about your visit with information it holds from other sites. Meta and Google act as controllers of that processing for their own purposes, and in some configurations we and the provider are joint controllers for the collection and transmission.

7.4 US users: using these technologies may amount to a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under some US state laws, even though no money changes hands. See §10.

8. HOW WE ASK FOR CONSENT

8.1 When you first visit, you see a banner with three equally prominent options: Accept All, Reject Non-Essential, and Manage Preferences.

8.2 Rejecting is exactly as easy as accepting - one click, from the same screen, with a button of equal prominence.

8.3 Nothing non-essential is set before you choose. No analytics, personalisation or advertising technology runs while the banner is open.

8.4 Nothing is pre-ticked. Every optional category is off until you turn it on.

8.5 Continuing to scroll, or continuing to browse, is not consent. We do not treat it as consent.

8.6 We record your choice and when you made it, so we can demonstrate it and so we do not ask you again unnecessarily.

8.7 We ask again if we introduce a materially new purpose, or after 12 months.

9. CHANGING YOUR MIND

9.1 You can withdraw consent at any time, and it is as easy as giving it.

9.2 Use the https://wowpetspalace.com/cookie-settings, available from the footer of every page and from your account settings.

9.3 Withdrawing consent stops future processing. It does not undo processing that already happened.

9.4 Browser controls. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop the Platform working.

  • Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge - see the privacy or cookie settings in each browser's preferences.

9.5 Mobile apps. Control advertising identifiers in your device settings - App Tracking Transparency on iOS, Ads settings on Android. In-app preferences are in the app's settings menu.

9.6 Do Not Track. We do not currently respond to Do Not Track browser signals, because there is no agreed standard for how to interpret them. Use the preference centre in §9.2 to change your choices.

10. REGIONAL DIFFERENCES

10.1 EU/EEA

10.1.1 Under the ePrivacy Directive as implemented in your country, and the GDPR, prior consent is required for anything stored on or read from your device that is not strictly necessary.

10.1.2 Consent must be freely given, specific, informed, unambiguous and as easy to withdraw as to give. Our banner is built to that standard.

10.1.3 You may complain to your national supervisory authority - see the Privacy Policy §18.5.

10.2 Albania

10.4.1 Law No. 124/2024 applies to personal data processed through these technologies.

11. THIRD-PARTY PRIVACY POLICIES

Where a third-party service is used, that company's own policy governs its processing:

ProviderPrivacy policy
Googlepolicies.google.com/privacy
Metafacebook.com/privacy/policy
Microsoftprivacy.microsoft.com
Stripestripe.com/privacy
PayPalpaypal.com/privacy
Cloudflarecloudflare.com/privacypolicy

12. CHANGES

12.1 We update this policy when our use of these technologies changes.

12.2 Where a change introduces a new purpose or a new third party, we will ask for your consent again before it starts.

12.3 The current version is always at https://wowpetspalace.com/cookies.
